Free Doll Dress Knitting Pattern
Materials: Patons Grace 100% sport weight yarn, 100% mercerized Cotton 50g/1.75 oz. 125m/136 yds – 1.5 balls (shop for this yarn here!)
5 white buttons 5-6 mm
Needles: US 1 (2.25mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Gauge for stockinette stitch: 28 st x 40 rows = 4" x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm)
kfr&b - knit front and back
yo - yarn over
ssk - slip the first st as if to knit, knit the second st, pass the first st over
Stockinette Stitch in rows:
1st row and all odd rows - knit sts
2nd row and all even rows - purl sts
Stockinette Stitch in rounds:
knit all rounds
Garter Stitch in rows:
knit all rows
Garter stitch in rounds:
1st round and all odd rounds - knit sts
2nd round and all even rounds - purl sts
Lace pattern A worked on 4 sts:
Row 1: yo, ssk, k2tog, yo
Row 2: purl

Round 1: *yo, k2, k2tog - rep from * across the round
Rounds 2, 4 and 6 knit
Round 3: *k2tog, yo - rep from * across the round
Round 5: k1, k2tog, *yo, k2, k2tog - rep from * across the round to the last st, k1.
Selvedge stitches: the first st knit, the last st purl.
The dress is worked from the top down, with yo increases on raglan lines, forth and back with back seam to waist line. Then it's worked in-the-round without seams on circular needles. The button band is crocheted.
Co 42 sts. Knit the first row, purl the second row.
Divide the stitches as follows:
1 edge st, 5 st (right back), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 8 sts (right sleeve), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 10 sts (front), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 8 sts (left sleeve), 1 st (raglan line, place marker), 5 sts (left back), 1 edge st. = 42 sts
Row 3 and all odd rows:
back halves: knit, on each raglan line make increases: yo, k1, yo,
front: knit 3, work lace pattern A on 4 sts, knit 3. In the following odd rows, work lace pattern A on the central 4 sts of the front.
All even rows purl. Work 22 rows.
Row 23: sl1, k16 sts of the back, yo, k1 (raglan); sleeve: *yo, k2tog - rep across the sleeve sts,
end with yo before the raglan line, k1 (raglan line); front: yo, then work as established till the
next raglan line, yo, k1 (raglan line); sleeve: work as described above; k1 (raglan line), yo, k16 sts, p1 of the back = 138 sts
Row 24 purl.
Row 25: make yo increases on raglan line on back and front, not on sleeves. = 142 sts
You will have the following number of stitches: each half of back 20, sleeves 32 sts each, front 38 sts = 142 sts
Row 26: sl1, p19, k32, p38, k32, p20 = 142 sts
Row 27: knit across
Row 28: as row 28
Row 29: sl1, k19, bind off 32 sts of the sleeve, work 38 sts of the front as est., bind off 32 sts of the other sleeve, k 19, p1.
Row 30: sl1, p19, cast on 1, p38, cast on1, p20 = 80 sts
Work rows 31 through 38 as established.
Row 39 knit, join and continue to work in rounds.
Round 40: *k1, kfr&b rep from * across the rounds =120 sts
Knit 38 rounds.
Work the next 6 rounds in lace pattern B
Work the next 6 rounds in garter st (1 round knit, 1 round purl)
Crochet the button band on the right back: *3 sc, 3 ch, rep to the end of the row.
Sew 5 buttons on the left edge of the back.
