Free Doll Poncho Knitting Pattern

Size: fits 14-15-inch dolls like Ruby Red Fashion Friends, Wellie Wishers, Heart-to-Heart, Glitter Girls and other dolls of similar size.
Materials: Red Heart (affiliate link) Mystic aran weight yarn (70% Acrylic, 30% Alpaca), 154 yds (141 m)/85 gr - 1 ball.
Needles: circular or/and double pointed needles (dpn) US #7 (4.5 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Gauge: 20 sts x 24 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stockinette stitch.
Notions:
yarn needle, 4 stitch markers, small embellishments of your choice (optional).
Abbreviations:
k - knit
p - purl
m1 - make 1 increase - make a backward loop over the right-hand needle and in the next row/round purl/knit as a regular stitch.
sm - slip marker
pm - place marker
rm - remove marker
Pattern Notes:
Stockinette in rounds: all rounds knit
1x1 rib in rounds: all rounds *k1, p1 - repeat from * around
Garter Stitch in rounds:
Round 1: knit around
Rounds 2: purl around
Repeat 2 rounds
Raglan increases: in every second round, work till marker, make 1 (m1), slip marker (sm), k1, m1. There are 4 raglan lines, repeat on each raglan line, thus the number of sts in each second round will increase by 8.
Short Overview of the Pattern:
The poncho is worked top-down, in-the round, without seams. The collar is worked in 1x1 rib, the main part of the poncho is worked in stockinette and the hem in garter stitch.
Poncho
Loosely cast on 40 sts, close into round, place a marker to mark the beginning of the round. Slip the marker while working.
Work 10 rounds in 1x1 rib: *k1, p1 - repeat from * around.
Round 11: slip the marker, k10, place the second marker, k 10, place the third marker, k10, place the forth marker, k10.
Round 12 (increase round): *m1, sm, k1, m1, k till next marker - repeat from * 4 times
Round 13: knit around
Repeat round 12-13 three more times
The number of stitches after every increase round:
Round 12: 48
Round 14: 56
Round 16: 64
Round 18: 72
After round 19, remove the second and the forth markers (shoulders), leave only the first and the third ones: centers of the front and back).
Round 20 (increase round): *m1, sm, k1, m1, knit till the next marker - repeat from * = 76 sts
Rounds 21-24 - knit around
Round 25 (increase round): *m1, sm, k1, m1, knit till the next marker - repeat from * = 80 sts
Rounds 26-29 - knit around
Work 6 more rounds in garter stitch: round 30 purl, round 31 knit, repeat these two rounds 2 more times.
Bind off.
FInishing
Weave in yarn ends. Block if needed.
