Row 2 (WS): knit to the end of the row
Repeat rows 1-2

Round 2: purl to the end of the round.
Repeat rounds 1-2

Garter Stitch in rows: All rows knit

1x1 Rib in rows: (multiple of 2)
*K1, p1, - repeat from * across.
Repeat yjis same row

Rib 1 x 1 in rounds: *K1, p1 across the round. Repeat this round.

Selvege/edge stitches (the first and the last stitches of the row) are worked as follows: knit the first stitch knitwise, purl the last stitch.

Button bands are worked on 4 stitches in the beginning and in the end of the row in garter stitch (all sts knit).

Button holes are worked on the right button band as follows: k1, k2tog, yo, k1. Buttonholes are done in rows 5, 13, 21, 29, 37 at the beginning of the row.

Raglan decreases on the yoke of the cardigan are made before and after the marked stitches(raglan lines) as follows: ssk, sm, k1 (raglan line st), k2tog.

Cardigan

The cardigan is worked from the bottom to the top without seams. Sleeves are worked from cuff up , then the bodice and sleeves are connected and the yoke is worked.

Bodice

On smaller circular needles, with blue yarn , cast on 58 sts .

Work garter stitch for 6 rows: knit till last st, p1; don’t forget to make a button hole in the beginning of row 5 (RS).

Change to larger needles.

Row 7 (RS) and all RS rows): k1 (edge st), k 4 (button band), *k1, p 1* repeat to the last 5 sts, k 4 (button band), p1 (edge st).

Row 8 (WS and all WS rows): knit to last st, p1.

Repeat rows 7 and 8 eight more times. Don’t forget about button holes in rows 13 and 21.

Row 25 (RS): k5, *k1, p1* 5 times, bind off 6 sts, *k1, p1* 8 times, bind off 6 sts, *k1, p1* 5 times, k4, p1. = 46 sts

Leave this piece of work for a time being.

Sleeves

The sleeves are worked on straight needles backward and forward and have a seam. Alternatively, experienced knitters, can work them in rounds on dpn.

With blue yarn, cast on 24 sts on smaller needles. You can make both sleeves simultaneously working from 2 balls. Odd rows are right side, even rows – wrong side.

Rows 1-6: work in garter stitch: knit to last st, p1.

Change to larger needles.

Row 7 (RS and all RS rows): *k1, p1 - repeat across

Row 8 (WS and all WS rows): knit to last st, p1.

Repeat rows 7 - 8 nine more times.

Row 27 (RS): bind off 3 sts, *p1, k1* to the last 3 sts, bind them off. Cut yarn.

Leave 18 sts on the needle, or stitch holder, do not bind.

Make another sleeve.

Yoke

The yoke is worked in garter stitch (all rows knit), with raglan decreases before and after the marked stitches.

Take the bodice and start working the next, 26th, row (WS). Knit the first part (right front - 15 sts), then, the wrong side facing, knit the stitches of the first sleeve from the straight needle, continue working the second part of the bodice (back - 16 sts), then knit the second sleeve, the wrong side facing, from the straight needle, continue working the third part of the bodice (left front - 15 sts) = 82 sts

Now you have all stitches of the jacket on the circular needles.

Work 4 more rows (Ros 27 -30) in garter stitch: k81, p1.

From row 31 work from 3 balls of yarn: the original ball of blue yarn, a ball of red yarn and a small ball of blue yarn for the left-side button band.

Row 31 (RS): k2, k2tog, yo, k1 (button band with button hole), change to red yarn, k 7, ssk, k1 (place a marker before this st, the first raglan line), k2tog, k 13, ssk, k1 (place a marker before this st, the second raglan line), k2tog, k 12, ssk, k1 (place a marker before this st, the third raglan line), k2tog, k 13, ssk, k1 (place a marker before this st, the forth raglan line), ssk, k7, change to blue yarn, k 4 p 1. = 74 sts

Row 32(WS): k5 in blue , knit in red until the last 5 sts, work them in blue: k4, p1.

Row 33 (RS, work in blue yarn): *knit until 2 sts remain before the marker, ssk, sm, k1, k2tog - repeat from * 4 times, knit all sts to last one, p1. = 68 sts

Row 34 (WS, work in blue yarn): k67, p1.

Row 38 (WS) work in blue : k51, p1.

Row 39 (RS): k5 in blue, continue in red to the last 5 sts:*knit until 2 sts remain before the marker, ssk, sm, k1, k2tog - repeat from * 4 times, knit all sts to last 5 sts, work the remaining 5 sts in blue yarn: k4, p1. = 44 sts

Row 40 (WS): k5 in blue , knit in red yarn until the last 5 sts, work the remaining 5 sts in blue: k4,p1. Cut red yarn.

Rows 41-44 work in blue yarn: k5, work 1x1 rib to the last 5 sts, k4, p1.

Bind off.

Finishing

Sew sleeve seams. Sew the underarm seams. Weave in all yarn ends. Sew 5 red buttons on the left button band.

Red Skirt

The skirt is worked in rounds without seams.

On smaller circular needles, or dpn, cast on 50 sts, join into round and continue to work in rounds, place a marker at the beginning of the round.

Make rounds 1-4 in 1x1 rib pattern: *k1, p1 across the round.

Round 5: *kfr&b, p1 – repeat from * to the last 2 sts, k1, p1 = 75 sts

Change to larger needles.

Round 6, and all even rounds: *k1, p1*

Round 7 and all odd rounds: purl.

Are there any corrections for this pattern? A #2 needle seems too small for the gauge

I have been searching for an 18" doll knitted shorts set. Could this skirt be turned into shorts? Or, better yet, would you have a knit pattern available?
Thanks so much!
