Hat

With MC cast on 110 sts, join and continue to work in rounds. Work 1:1 rib for 6 rounds.
Start the Two-Color pattern. In the first round of the pattern add evenly 10 sts = 120 sts
Work the 2-color pattern repeating rounds 3-10 6 times.
The next 2 rounds repeat rounds 3-4
To shape the crown, make decreases in the next round: (MC) K5, *k2tog, k2, k2 tog through the back loops, k4 - rep from * to the last st in the round, knit the last st and the first st tog through the back loops. Work the next 5 rows as established by the pattern, now you have 4 sts between the cables.
Make another repeat of the pattern(rounds 3-10). In the 10th round make another decrease: p3, *k2tog, k2, k2tog through the back loops, p2, rep from * to the last st in the round, knit the last st and the first st tog through the back loop. Now you have 2 sts between the cables.

Continue to work with the MC. Transfer the stitches to dpn.
Work 2 rounds: *p2, k4 - rep across.
The next round: *p2, c4f - rep from * across.
The next 2 rounds: *p2, k4 - rep across.
The next round: p1, *k2tog, k2, k2tog through the back loops - rep from * across.
The next round: knit
The next round: *c4f - rep across
The next 3 rounds: knit.
The next round: *k2tog - rep from * across
The next round: knit
The next round: *k2tog - rep from * across
Cut yarn, leaving a 10" (25 cm) tail. Pull through all the remaining sts and secure.

Enjoy!

Thanks for this design! I think I'm going to use it for the top portion of an 1898 Hat.
