American Girl Doll Summer Lace Dress

Difficulty level: *** Intermediate

Free Doll Dress Knitting Pattern

This elegant little summer dress features lace details on the bodice and the skirt. The dress is knitted from the bottom up, back and forth, with a rear seam. The neck and armholes are finished with eyelet edging. The skirt features an eye-catching scalloped edge.

It's straightforward to knit, but knowledge of knitted lace is definitely recommended. Actually, this would be a great, small project to practice your lace knitting skills!

My sister and I have done a lot of clothes for American girl dolls. Their waist is about 11 inches around, this pattern has 51 stitches for the waist. 51 sts. divided by 11 in. = about 4.5, so use whatever size needles would give you 4.5 stitches per inch. (I think for my sister and I that would be about size 6.)

Yes, you should place stitches on stitch holders. I suggest to slip the 1st stitch and to purl the last stitch.

You have to achieve the gauge specified in the pattern with the needles of the size, which allows you to do it.
