Barbie Elegant 2-Piece Suit (Long Coat and Skirt)

Free Doll Suit Knitting Pattern

Materials:Bernat (affiliate link) Satin 100% acrylic yarn worsted weight, color - Wine Mist, 149 m (163 yds)/100 g - 1 skein.

Needles:
1 (2.25 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

Gauge:18 st x 26 rows = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) for stocking stitch

Patterns:

Garter Stitch
all rows - knit sts

Stocking Stitch
1 row and all odd rows - knit sts
2 row and all even rows - purl sts

Rib:
1 k, 1 p

Back
Cast on 20 sts (including edge stitches).
Rows 1-4: garter stitch
Rows 5-22: stocking stitch. Decrease for 1 st on each side 3 times in rows 7, 13 and 19.
Rows 23-32: stocking stitch. Cast off.

Left Front
Cast on 11 sts (including edge stitches).
Rows 1-4: garter stitch
Rows 5-22: stocking stitch. Decrease for 1 st at the beginning of the row 3 times in rows 7, 13 and 19.
Rows 23-32: stocking stitch. Cast off.

Right Front
Knit as left front.

Sleeve
Cast on `12 sts (including edge stitches).
Rows 1-2: garter stitch
Knit stocking stitch for 20 rows. Cast off.

Skirt
Cast on `28 sts (including edge stitches).
Knit rib for 26 rows. Cast off.

Finishing:
Join shoulder and side seams.
Crochet 2 rows of single crochet on the neckline and along the front opening.
Set in sleeves.

Nice pattern; I was very grateful for it. I wasn't sure how many stitches to use for the shoulders, though. Did I miss something?

If the gauge was correct, the skirt should fit.

I find very thin elastic that can threaded in a yarn needle, sewn along a waistband, corrects any "skirt won't stay up problems," ouch easier for small fingers to pull on too. Stretchy.

I think there is a problem with the skirt. I made this suit & it turned out fine except that there is no shape to the skirt and it is so large that it won't stay up. Shouldn't there be a smaller waist. I have it doubled over with velcro, but I'm sure that isn't the way it should be.
