Materials: Knit Picks Stroll Sport weight yarn 137 yds (125 m) / 50 g, color blue - 1 skein

Needles: circular #2 (21") or double-pointed needles
Gauge for Broken Rib: 16 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4")
Broken Rib Pattern:
Row 1: *k1, p1* to the end
Row 2: knit
Repeat rows 1-2
Ribbing 1:1
Row1: *k1, p1* to the end
Row2: *p1, k1* to the end
Directions
Blue yarn: cast on 44 sts.
Make the 1st round in ribbing 1:1 distributing the sts on 4 needles (11 sts on a needle), join and continue to work in rounds, mark the beginning of the round.
Work rounds 2-5 in ribbing 1:1.
Round 6: knit into the front and the back of each stitch doubling the number of stitches = 88 sts (22 sts on each needle)
Round 7: change to red yarn, knit 88 sts
Round 8: in red yarn *k1, p1*
Round 9: change to blue yarn, knit 88 sts
Round 10: purl 88 sts
Round 11: change to red yarn knit 88
Round 12: purl 88
Round 13: *k1, p1*
Round 14 and all even rounds (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26): purl
Round 15: *k1, p1*
Round 17: *p2tog, (k1, p1) four times, k1* repeat 8 times = 80 sts
Rounds19, 21: repeat round 17. After round 19 there will be 72 sts left, after round 21 = 64 sts
Round 23: in blue yarn - *k2tog, k5* repeat 5 times = 56 sts
Round 24: in blue yarn - purl
Round 25: in red yarn - *k2tog, k4* repeat 8 times = 48 sts
Round 27: *k2tog, k3* repeat 8 times = 32 sts
Round 28 and even rounds (30, 32): knit
Round 29: *k2tog, k2* repeat 8 times = 24 sts
Round 31: *k2tog, k1* repeat 8 times = 16 sts
Round 33: *k2tog* repeat 8 times = 8 sts
Cut yarn, leaving a 10" (25 cm) tail. Pull through the remaining sts and secure.
Finishing
Make a pom-pom. Sew it to the beret.
