Cable Tunic for 14 inch dolls (Wellie Wishers and Hearts4Hearts)
Difficulty level: *** Intermediate

Free Doll Tunic Knitting Pattern

For this winter tunic, I used a self-striping yarn for the yoke and sleeves, and a solid yarn for the body. This gives it a bit of the look of Nordic-style colorwork. This would be a perfect garment for your doll to wear on her skiing trip!

The solid-colored portion of the tunic is decorated with cables. It features a back closure for easy on-and-off with 14-inch dolls.

-Knit & purl, cast on & bind off

-Increasing: make 1, knit front and back (kfr&b)

The selvedge/edge stitches are worked as follows: slip the first stitch knitwise and purl the last one.

Tunic

The tunic is worked top-down back-and-forth with raglan sleeves and button band on the back. The sleeves are worked on dpn in the round.

With yarn A cast on 38 sts, work 2 rows in garter stitch. Check the sts, they are:

1 selvedge - 3 bb - 3 back - 1 raglan (place a marker before this st) - 6 sleeve - 1 raglan (place the second marker before this st) - 8 front - 1 raglan (place the third marker before this st) - 6 sleeve - 1 raglan (place the forth marker before this st) - 3 back - 3 bb - 1 edge.

Row 3 (RS and all RS rows, increase row): sl 1, *knit all sts till marker, m1, sm, k1 (raglan), m1, repeat 4 times, knit all sts till the last one, p1.

Row 4 (WS and all WA rows): sl 1, knit all sts to the last one, p1.

Repeat rows 3-4 six more times. In row 16 you'll have 94 sts.

Divide for sleeves and bodice:

The bodice of the tunic is worked in cables (see pattern above).

Row 17 (RS) with yarn B: sl 1, k 3 (bb), (kfr&b, k1) - repeat 5 times, k 1, transfer the next 20 sts to a piece of waste yarn, co 3, (kfr&b, k1) - repeat 12 times, transfer the next 20 sts to a piece of waste yarn, co 3, k2, (kfr&b, k1) - repeat 5 times, k 2, p 1. = 82 sts

Row 24: repeat row 19.

Repeat rows 19-24 four more times.

Repeat rows 19-20 three more times.

Sleeves

Sleeves are worked on dpn with multi-colored yarn:

Transfer 20 sts on dpn, distributing them evenly, pu&k 3 sts underarm. = 23 sts. Mark the beginning of the round.

Round 1: knit all stitches.

Round 2: purl all stitches

Round 3: knit, work 3 sts underarm in the fol. way: sl 1, k2tog, pass the first over the knitted together (psso) = 21 sts
