Free Doll Hat Knitting Pattern
Materials: Knit Picks Palette fingering weight 100% wool yarn 231 yds (210 m)/ 50 g color white (main color) 0.5 ball and red (contrast color) – small amount
Needles: US 1.5(2.5mm) and US 2 (2.75mm) dpn
Gauge: 28 sts x 36 rows = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm)
k - knit
p - purl
psso - Pass slipped stitch over (slip 1 st knitwise to the right needle, knit the next 2 sts together, pass the slipped stitch over (2 sts decrease).
k2tog tbl - knit 2 together through back loop
kfr&b - knit into front and back
w&t - wrap and turn
pu&k- pick up and knit
yo - yarn over
m1 - make 1 increase - I used the increase described by Elizabeth Zimmerman: make a backward loop over the right-hand needle and in the next row/round purl/knit as a regular stitch.

Stockinette in rounds:
All rounds knit.
All rounds: *k1, p1 repeat from *
The hat is worked in the round, colorwork pattern is worked according to diagram B.
On smaller needles, with main color yarn, Cast on 68 sts, distribute them evenly on dpn, join and continue to work in rounds.
Work 6 rounds of 1x1 rib.
Round 7 change to larger needles: knit.
Rounds 8-22 work the colored pattern by scheme B.
Work the next 14 rounds in stockinette (knit).
The next round: (k2tog, k12, ssk, k1) 4 times
The next round: (k2 tog, k10, ssk, k1) 4 times
The next round: (k2 tog, k8, ssk, k1) 4 times
The next round: (k2 tog, k6, ssk, k1) 4 times
The next round: (k2 tog, k4, ssk, k1) 4 times
The next round: (k2 tog, k2, ssk, k1) 4 times
The next round: (k2 tog, ssk, k1) 4 times
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread the end through remaining sts and fasten securely.
