American Girl Doll Apple Blossom Dress

Difficulty level: *** Intermediate

Free Doll Dress Crochet Pattern

With the high collar, I think of this as a more formal summer dress. Something to be worn to a formal Afternoon Tea, perhaps, or maybe a dress for a royal princess on her day off :)

Materials: Red Heart (affiliate link) Crochet Thread #10, 100% mercerized cotton, 300 yards (274 meters), – 1 ball small amount of thread of any contrast color.

4-5 plastic sew-on snaps

Hook: 1.75 mm OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 11 V-sts x 16 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm)

Pattern notes:

Chain 3 at beginning of the row/round counts as a double crochet stitch.

When working in rounds, join the last stitch to the beginning ch-3 with a slip stitch.

Abbreviations:

  • Ch – chain
  • Hdc – half double crochet
  • Dc – double crochet
  • ch-space – chain space
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • V-st = (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same st
  • V-st in V-st = V-st in ch-1-space of the V-st
  • W-st = (dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc)
  • DV-st - double V stitch = (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the same st
  • DV-st in DV-st = DV-st in ch-1-space of the DV-st
  • 3-dc Shell - 3dc in one st, 3 dc in the next st

Thank you for all your free patterns especially the American Girl doll clothes. My mother gave my daughter one of those dolls and I've only found out that buying the doll clothes can be quite costly. So my daughter's doll only has two shirts and a skirt because I haven't bought any extras clothes. I've taken to making doll stuff myself as it is way cheaper than buying them, and I really appreciate your patterns. I love them and I think my little girl will love them even more.

It was so easy considering I had never crocheted with thread before.
