Materials: Patons Grace 100% cotton sport weight yarn, 136 yards (124 meters)/50 g, color 60104 - 1 ball (A)

Notions: yarn needle

Needles: #4 (3.50 mm) and double pointed #2 (2.27mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge for stockinette stitch: 22 sts x 28 rows = 4" x 4" (10 cm)

Abbreviations:

dpn – double pointed needles

K – knit

P – purl

St, sts – stitch, stitches

k2tog - knit 2 sts together, right slanted decrease

ssk - sli-slip-knit, left slanted decrease

co – cast on

RS – right side

WS – wrong side

Pattern Notes:

Stockinette Stitch
Row 1 (RS): knit

Row 2 (WS): purl

Repeat rows 1-2.

The selvedge/edge stitches are worked as follows: slip the first stitch knitwise and purl the last one.


Directions:

Top is worked as one piece from bottom to top, with shoulder seams. Shoulder seams are slightly drawn back.

Row 4: sl1, purl to the end of the row.
Row 5 (RS): sl1, ssk, k67, k2tog, p1. (=71 srs)
Row 6: sl1, purl to the end of the row.

Finishing
Block.
Fold the top, right side inwards, align the shoulder edges and sew them together. Please note that shoulder seams are darwn backwards.
With yarn B work a 4-stitch applied I-cord along the armholes. Sew the ends.
Work a 6" (15 cm) piece of I-cord, then continue to work it as an applied I-cord along the right front, the neckline, left front edges; finish with 10" (25 cm) piece of I-cord. Bind off.

The neckline and the armholes of the top are finished with applied I-cord. Please see video instructions below.
