Short Overview of the pattern

The tunic is worked top-down, first, back and forth, to shape the neck, then in-the-round, without seams. (It will be a good idea to transfer all your work to a couple of long circular needles and try it on to check how it fits.) The sleeves are worked in-the-round, without seam, on double pointed or circular needles. The neckline is finished with the collar.

Tunic

Cast on 36 (37, 37, 38, 41, 41, 42, 43) sts and purl 1 foundation row. Count the stitches and place 4 markers as follows:

1 edge st, 1 st (left front), 2 sts (1st raglan line, pm between these 2 stitches), 5 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6) sts (left sleeve), 2 sts (second raglan line, pm between the stitches), 14 (15, 15, 16, 17, 17, 18, 19) sts (back), 2 sts (third raglan line, pm between the stitches), 5 (5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6) sts (right sleeve), 2 sts (fourth raglan line, pm between the stitches), 1 st (right front), 1 edge st.

Row 1 (RS, increase row): k1, m1, k1, *m1, k1, sm, k1, m1 (raglan line), knit all sts till 1 st remains before the next marker, repeat from * 3 times, m1, k1, sm, k1, m1 (forth raglan line), k1, m1, p1. 44 (45, 45, 46, 49, 49, 50, 51) sts.

Row 2 (WS) and all WS rows: sl 1, purl all sts.

Rows 3-8: Repeat rows 1-2 three more times. 68 (69, 69, 70, 73, 73, 74, 75) sts.

Row 9/Round 1 (RS, 1st increase round): knit to the first marker, *m1, k1, sm, k1, m1 (raglan), knit all sts till 1 st remains before the marker, repeat from * 3 times, m1, k1, sm, k1 , m1 (raglan), knit to the end of the row. At the end of the row cast on 4 (5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9) sts, join into the round and continue to work in rounds. Knit till 1 st remains before the marker. Now the beginning of the round will be at the 1 st before the left front raglan marker. 88 (90, 90, 92, 96, 96, 98, 100) sts.

Round 2 and all even rounds: knit

Round 3: (2nd increase round): *m1, k1, sm, k1, m1 (raglan), knit all sts till the next marker, repeat from * 3 more times. 96 (98, 98, 100, 104, 104, 106, 108) sts

Repeat 2nd increase round 10 (11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 19) more times. 180 (190, 206, 224, 236, 252, 262, 264) sts.

Divide for sleeves and bodice:

Knit the first st. before the raglan marker, rm. Transfer left sleeve sts (all stitches between the first and the second raglan markers, rm), to a piece of waste yarn, cast on 4 sts for underarm, knit all sts of the back, till the next raglan marker, transfer the right sleeve sts (all stitches between the third and the forth raglan markers, rm) to a piece of waste yarn, cast on 4 sts for underarm, knit all front sts. Place a marker after the 2nd left underarm st to mark the beginning of the round. Place another marker at the other underarm in the same place, preferably of the other color. That will help to begin working on side slits. Slip markers while working. 111 (117, 125, 135, 142, 150, 156, 158) sts.

Work in stockinette stitch 28 (28, 42, 42, 56, 56, 56, 56) more rounds.

Side Slits

Back

From this point the tunic is worked back and forth. First, the back, than the front.

Next row (RS): rm, sl1, (k1, p1) 2 times, knit till the 5 sts before next marker, (p1, k1) 2 times, p1, rm. Turn.
Next row (WS): sl1, (p1, k1) 2 times, purl till the 5 sts before the end of the row, (k1, p1) 2 times, p1. Turn.

Repeat these two rows 16 (18, 18, 18, 18, 18, 20, 22) or to desired length, taking in consideration, that there will be 10 rows of k1, p1 rib.

Work 10 more rows in 1x1 rib. Bind off.

Front

Work the remaining stitches as in the back, only repeat the first two rows 6 (8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 10, 12) times to make the front shorter than the back.

Work 10 more rows in 1x1 rib. Bind off.

Sleeves

Sleeves are worked in rounds on double pointed needles or circular needles 16" long.

Transfer sleeve sts from the waste yarn to the needles and pick up 4 sts over the 4 underarm sts. Place marker after the 2nd underarm st to mark the beginning of the round. 41 (43, 47, 51, 54, 58, 60, 60) sts

Slip the marker while working. Work stockinette stitch for 60 (74, 82, 88, 96, 106, 112, 116) rounds or to desired length, taking into consideration, that there are 10 rounds of 1x1 rib.

To narrow the sleeve, decrease by 2 sts on both sides of the marker in every 8th round as follows:

Decrease round: sm, ssk, knit all sts to the last 2 st before marker, k2tog.

Work 10 more rounds in 1x1 rib. Bind off.

Rolled up Neck (beige tunic)

With the right side facing, starting with the central back st, pick up and knit sts on dpn or circular needles along the neckline and knit 12 rounds of stockinette st. Bind off.

Split Rib Collar (blue tunic)

With the right side facing, starting at the left front raglan line, pick up and knit sts on a dpn or circular needles along the neckline and cast on 7 more stitches for the overlapping stitches of the collar. Work 20 rows of k1, p1 rib. Bind off.

Sew the cast-on edge of the collar on the wrong side along the neckline.

Finishing

Weave in all yarn ends. Block.

Enjoy!
