Skills Required/Techniques Used:
-Knit & purl, cast on & bind off
-Increasing :yarn over (YO),
-Decreasing: slip, slip, knit (ssk)
-Working lace patterns

Finished measurements: 36” (90 cm) square

Materials: Worsted weight yarn (100% wool), 220 yds (201 m) / 100 gr, - 7 skeins

Needles: US #7 (4.5 mm) needles.

Gauge: 12 sts x 20 rows = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette st.

Pleated Lace Pattern

Multiple of 8 plus 1

Row 1 (RS): K1, (yo, ssk, k6) once. (9 sts)

Row 2 (WS): (P7, k1) once, p1.

Row 3: K1, (p1, yo, ssk, k5) repeat n times.

Row 4: (P6, k2) repeat n times, p1.

Row 5: K1, (p2, yo, ssk, k4) repeat n times.

Row 6: (P5, k3) repeat n times, p1.

Row 7: K1, (p3, yo, ssk, k3) repeat n times.

Row 8: (P4, k4) repeat n times, p1.

Row 9: K1, (p4, yo, ssk, k2) repeat n times.

Row 10: (P3, k5) repeat n times, p1.

Row 11: K1, (p5, yo, ssk, k1) repeat n times.

Row 12: (P2, k6) repeat n times, p1.

Chain Selvedge
The selvedge/edge stitches are worked as follows: slip the first stitch knitwise and purl the last one.


Short Overview of the Pattern:

The blanket is worked in the Pleated Lace pattern. The vertical borders of the blanket are worked in garter stitch together with the main part of the blanket.

To make a larger blanket, you can increase the number of lace repeats on the main part of the blanket and work more repeats of the main pattern.

Cast on 131 stitches. These include: 131 sts for 15 repeats of the lace pattern, 8 sts (4+4) borders, 2 edge sts. Knit one foundation row.

Row 2 (WS): Sl, k130. (131 sts)

Repeat rows 1-2 three (3) more times

Row 9: Sl, k5, (yo, ssk, k6) 15 times, k4, p1. (131 sts)

Row 10: Sl, k4, (p7, k1) 15 times, p1, k4, p1. (131 sts)

Row 11: Sl, k5, (p1, yo, ssk, k5) 15 times, k4, p1. (131 sts)

Row 12: Sl, k4, (p6, k2) 15 times, p1, k4, p1. (131 sts)

Row 13: Sl, k5, (p2, yo, ssk, k4) 15 times, k4, p1. (131 sts)

Row 14: Sl, k4, (p5, k3) 15 times, p1, k4, p1. (131 sts)

Row 178: Sl, k129, p1. (131 sts).

Repeat rows 177-178 four (4) more times.

Bind off


Finishing:

Weave in all yarn ends. Block.
