Basic Crochet Sundress for Mini American Girl Doll

Difficulty level: ** Easy

Free Doll Dress Crochet Pattern

Materials: DMC (affiliate link) Cebelia Cotton size 10 thread (100% cotton), 284 yards (260 meters)/50 gr, color blue - 1 ball

Hook: US#6 (1.00 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 32 dc = 4” (10 cm)

Abbreviations:
Ch = chain
Dc = double crochet
V-st = V-stitch: (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same stitch
V-st in V-st = V-stitch under the ch-1 space of the V-stitch
Shell = (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the same stitch
Shell in V-st = shell in the ch-1 space of the V-stitch
Shell in shell = 2-2 shell in the ch-1 space of the 2-2- shell

Dress

The dress is worked as one piece, top-down, with button band on the back.

Yoke

Chain 28.
Row 1: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), insert the hook in the fifth ch from the hook, 1 dc in each of the next
2 chains, (V-st in the next chain, 1 dc in each of the next 6 chains) three times, V-st in the next chain,
1 dc in each of the last 3 chains. Turn.
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, (V-st in V-st, 1 dc in each of the next 8 dc) 3 times, V-st in V-st, 1 dc in each of the last 4 dc. Turn.
Row 3: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, (V-st in V-st, 1 dc in each of the next 10 dc) 3 times, V-st in V-st, 1 dc in each of the last 5 dc. Turn.

Divide for sleeves and bodice

Row 4: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, 1 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 2, skip the next 12 dc, 1 dc in next ch-1 space, 1 dc in each of the next 12 dc, ch 2, skip the next 12 dc, 1 dc in next ch-1 space, 1 dc in each of the last 6 dc. Turn.

Bodice

Row 5: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in each dc and each chain of both ch-2-spaces across the row. Turn. = 29 sts

Skirt

Row 6 (belt row): ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in the next dc, *ch 1, skip the next dc, 1 dc in the next dc - repeat to the last 3 stitches, ch 1, skip 1 dc, 1 dc in the last 2 dc. Turn.
Row 7: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in the next dc, *V-st in the ch-1 space, shell in the next ch-1 space - repeat from * to the last 3 stitches, V-st in the last ch-1 space, 1 dc in each of the last 2 dc. Turn.
Rows 8, 9 and 10: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in the next dc, *V-st in V-st, shell in shell - repeat from * to the last 5 sts, V-st in the last V-st, 1 dc in each of the last 2 dc. Turn.
Row 11: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in the next dc, *shell in V-st, shell in shell - repeat from * to the last 5 sts, shell in the last V-st, 1 dc in each of the last 2 dc. Turn.
Row 12: ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in the next dc, *1 shell in each shell - repeat from * to the last 2 dc, 1 dc in each of the last 2 dc.
Fasten off. Cut the thread.


Finishing

Weave in the ends. Sew 2 small buttons on to the right back edge of the bodice, use the ch-3 spaces on the left edge as button loops.
Insert a piece of ribbon in the eyelet row, tie bow.

Chest - 3.75 inches (9cm)
Waist - 3.75 inches (9cm)
Hips - 3.75 inches (9cm)
Across shoulders - 1.5 inches (4cm)
Shoulder to waist - 1.5 inches (4cm)
Top of arms - 1.75 inches (4cm)
Waist to below knees - 2.25 inches (6cm)
Waist to ankles - 3 inches (7.5cm)
