4 buttons 6 mm

Needles:   US 6 (4mm) circular, US 6 (4mm) dpn needles and US #5 (3.75 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge for stockinette stitch: 18 st x 24 rows = 4" (10 cm)

kfr&b - knit front and back
m1 - Make 1 increase - I used the increase described by Elizabeth Zimmerman
Make a backward loop over the right-hand needle and in the next row/round purl/knit as a regular stitch.

Pattern Notes:

Stockinette Stitch in rows:
1st row and all odd rows - knit sts
2nd row and all even rows - purl sts

Stockinette Stitch in rounds:
knit all rounds

Garter Stitch in rows:
knit all rows

Garter stitch in rounds:
1st round and all odd rounds - knit sts
2nd round and all even rounds - purl sts

Selvedge stitches: the first st knit, the last st purl.

The cardigan is worked in 2 strands of yarn, from the top down, with increases on the raglan lines, back and forth. The button band is worked in garter st. simultaneously with the body of the cardigan. The sleeves are worked separately in-the-round on dpn.

On circular #6 needles, co 40 sts and knit 2 rows.
Divide the sts as follows:
1 edge - 3 button band - 3 front - 1 raglan (place a marker) - 6 sleeve - 1 raglan (place a marker) -
10 back - 1 raglan (place a marker) - 6 sleeve - 1 raglan (place a marker) - 3 front - 3 button band - 1 edge
Starting with row 3: work the button band in garter st - all rows knit, work the body of the cardigan in stockinette : all odd rows knit, all even rows purl.

At the same time, in all odd rows (3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19) make increases before and after raglan lines, thus increasing the number of sts by 8 in each of the odd rows. You will have 112 sts in row 20.
At the same time on the right front band in rows 5, 13, 21 and 29 make the button holes: yo, k2tog.

Row 21: work 17 sts of the front as established, transfer the 24 sts of the sleeve to a waste yarn, work 28 sts of the back as est, transfer 24 sts of the sleeve to a waste yarn, work 17 sts of the front as est.
Work 10 rows of the cardigan's body as established in stockinette st. Work 6 more rows in garter st. Bind off.

Transfer 24 of the sleeve to US 6 dpn and work 15 rounds in stockinette (all rounds knit)
Change to US 5 dpn and work 6 more rounds in garter st (1 round purl, 1 round knit). Bind off.

FInishing: Sew on the buttons, weave in the yarn ends.

Where could I find the "increase described by Elizabeth Zimmerman"?
Do you know where I could find out the directions for crocheting around a buttonhole?
Thank you so much.
