To crochet the scarf shorter you need to change the number of repeats. You should chain less sts.

You chain 515 just as a starting chain. You will only do it once. The pattern looks like many different stings of 515 chains because of the *chain 8, skip 8 of the previous row, 1 single crochet on the previous row* pattern. It creates a space without changing the number of stitches per row.

Yes, you can use medium weight yarn. You just need to use bigger hook and work the base chain shorter.

It was a typo. Thank you for writing about it.

I can easily see this being made in some of the thinner novelty yarns, and mixture of yarns in both winter and summer fibers. Stunning. Thanks for sharing!

I'm confused. I chained 515, then did the repeat to the end of the row. If I do that to the end of the row, where then am I putting the 2 sc that you mention before the chain 30? Then Row 2 starts with 2 dc. WHERE? In the 2nd chain from the hook (of the ch 25 I just made?) Then it says ch 8 *sc, ch 8* repeat to the end of the row. After that ch 8, am I skipping any chains or am I really chaining 8 & sc in the next chain?

Thank you for sharing your pattern. In row 2, right before the chain 30, do you mean 2 sc? It says 2 dc, but I was wondering if it's a typo. Thanks again!

Do you think its possible to do this pattern with a weight 3 baby yarn? I love this pattern but I worried it would not look right. If I can do it with this yarn, how would I adjust the pattern? Thank you

I love this scarf, I have some regular yarn, medium, would it be possible to do this scarf with this yarn? I dont have the super small yarn this one talks about. If I can do it how would I have to modify it? Please and thank you. <3

Hi, I'm a bit confused about how to read this pattern, do you do 515 chains for each long strand of chains that's going to make up the scarf & then each of those rows is how to connect all the strands together? Or do you just do 1 lot of 515 chains & then each row is a new long row of chains? I'm fairly new to crochet & I'm still getting the hang of reading patterns =)

Hi, Read through the directions and am wondering about the length. If I want it shorter, do I still chain 515 stitches? This is for a preteen girl. It doesn't make sense that I'd change the number of repeats to make it shorter. Any help will be appreciated. Am looking forward to making this scarf. Hope to have an answer shortly as it needs to be done by May 19. Thank you!
