Free Knitting and Crochet Patterns from Elaine Phillips

I have printed the pattern and was excited to start. I have cast on the 33 sts and purled the 1 row. Now where do I go? The Row 1 is for alot more sts than 33... Did so something get missed in the pattern or am I missing something in the Direstions? Please help!! Thanks
