Free Doll Sweater Knitting Pattern
This cute knitted outfit consists of a sweater, vest, skirt, tights, hat and shoes to change a doll into one of Santa's elves. It's a great decoration for around the house or on your Christmas tree and, of course, a perfect toy.
This outfit will fit a 14" doll from the Hearts for Hearts Girls series
Materials: Knit Picks Palette fingering weight yarn, 231 yards (211 meters) / 50gr, colors: 1982 Grass, 4932 Serrano and 9437 white one ball each for the whole outfit. (shop for this yarn here!)
5 small sew-on snap closures
Needles: 5 dpn US #2 (2.75mm) 5" long and circular US #2 (2.75mm)
Gauge 20 sts x 30 rows = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm)
Ribbing 1x1 in rounds
All rounds: *k1, p1 repeat from * all the way around.
Stockinette in rounds
All rounds knit
Stockinette in rows:
Row 1: knit
Row 2: purl
Repeat rows 1-2.
Garter stitch in rounds:
Round 1 - knit
Round 2 - purl
Repeat rounds 1-2
The sweater is worked in rows from top to bottom without seams. There is a closure on the back.
With white yarn cast on 24 sts.
Row 1: knit and place 4 markers in the following places:
k 4 sts (back) - k 1 st (marker, raglan line) - k 3 sts (sleeve) - k 1 st (marker, raglan line) - k 6 sts (front) - k 1 st (marker, raglan line) - k 3 sts (sleeve) - k 1 st (marker, raglan line) - k 4 sts (back)
Row 2: purl.
Row 3 and all odd rows thru row 15: knit, make 1 extra st before and after each marker.
Thus you will increase the number of stitches by 8 in each odd row.
Row 4 and all even rows: purl.
Rows 5-6, 9-10, 13-14, work in red;
Rows 7-8, 11-12, 15-16 work in white.
Divide for sleeves
Row 17 (in red) knit 12 sts, transfer the next 18 sts of the sleeve to a length of yarn,
go on knitting the next 20 sts of the front, transfer the next 18 sts of the second sleeve to a length of yarn,
knit the remaining 12 sts.
Row 18: purl 42 sts.
Rows 19- knit, 20 - purl in white,
Rows 21- knit, 22 - purl in red,
Rows 23- knit, 22 - purl in white
Rows 25-30 work in white 1x1 ribbing. Bind off.
Sleeves are worked in rounds on 4 dpn needles.
Transfer 18 sts from a piece of yarn to 3 needles: 6 sts on each needle. Knit rounds 1-2, 5-6, 9-10, 13-14, 17-18, 21-22 in red
Knit rounds 3-4, 7-8, 11-12, 15-16, 19-20 in white
Work the next 6 rounds in 1x1 ribbing. Bind off.
Sew 5 sew-on snaps on the back.
