Directions:
The blanket is worked as one piece and shaped with short rows with one seam.

Cast on 88 sts using waste yarn and the provisional cast-on method.
Row 1: *16 st garter st, 4 st cable, place marker* repeat 4 times (all stitches are knit, but in the even rows cable sts are purls; markers will mark the beginning of the cable sts). End with 7st of garter st and 1 edge st. Edge st should be purled in odd rows and slipped in the even rows.
Row 2: sl 1, work all sts according to the patterns (knit for garter st and purl for cable) to the last st. Leave the last st on the left needle and turn (this is the 1st short row).
Row 3: knit
Row 4: work according to the patterns to the last 2 sts, turn.
Row 5: work garter st, make C4F (Cable 4 front: slip 2 sts to the cable needle, hold the stitches at the front of the work, then knit 2 sts, knit 2 sts from the cable needle).
Row 6: work according to the patterns to the last 3 sts, turn.
Continue to work short rows until 5 sts are left on the right needle before turn. This is 1/8 of the blanket.

Now start knitting one more stitch in every even row until you work all the stitches on the left needle. This is 1/4 of the blanket.
