Free Doll Beret Knitting Pattern

Skills Required/Techniques Used:

-Knit & purl, cast on & bind off

-Increasing:yarn over (YO), knit front and back (kfr&b)

-Decreasing: knit 2 together (k2tog), slip-slip-knit (ssk)

-Working in the round on double pointed needles (dpn) or circular needle using "magic loop" technique.

Materials: Knit Picks (affiliate link) wool of the Andes Worsted weight yarn 110 yds (100 m) / 50 g, color blue - 1 skein

Knit Picks (affiliate link) Wool of the Andes Worsted weight yarn 110 yds (100 m) / 50 g, color red - 1 skein

Notions: yarn needle, pom-pom maker.

Needles: double pointed needles #6 (4mm) or circular needles of the same size OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge for Broken Rib: 16 sts x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4")

Pattern Notes:

Reversed Broken Rib in rounds: (multiple of 2)
Round 1: *k1, p1* to the end of the round.
Round 2: purl to the end of the round.
Repeat rounds 1-2

1x1 Rib in rounds: (multiple of 2)
All rounds: *k1, p1 - repeat from* to the end of the round

Directions

With blue yarn cast on 44 sts. Distribute the sts on 4 needles (11 sts on a needle), join and continue to work in rounds, mark the beginning of the round.
Round 1-5: *k1, p1 - repeat from * to the ends of the round.
Round 6: knit into the front and the back of each stitch doubling the number of stitches = 88 sts (22 sts on each needle)
Round 7: change to red yarn, knit around.
Round 8: *k1, p1 - repeat from * around.
Round 9: change to blue yarn, knit around
Round 10: purl around.
Round 11: change to red yarn, knit around
Round 12: purl around
Round 13: *k1, p1 - repeat from * around
Round 14 and even rounds 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26: purl
Round 15: *k1, p1 - repeat from * around
Round 17: *p2tog, (k1, p1) four times, k1* repeat 8 times = 80 sts

Round19: *k2tog, (p1, k1) four times,* repeat 8 times = 72 sts

Round 21: *p2tog, (k1, p1) three times, k1 - repeat from * 8 times = 64 sts
Round 23: in blue yarn - *k2tog, k 6 - repeat from * 8 times = 56 sts
Round 24: in blue yarn - purl
Round 25: in red yarn - *k2tog, k 5 - repeat from * 8 times = 48 sts
Round 27: *k2tog, k 4- repeat from * 8 times = 40 sts
Round 28 and even rounds (30, 32, 34): knit
Round 29: *k2tog, k 3 - repeat from * 8 times = 32 sts
Round 31: *k2tog, k 2 - repeat from * 8 times = 24 sts

Round 33: *k2tog, k 1 - repeat from * 8 times = 16 sts
Round 35: k2tog - repeat 8 times = 8 sts
Cut yarn, leaving a 10" (25 cm) tail. Pull through the remaining sts and secure.

Finishing

Make a pom-pom. Sew it to the beret.

Thank You for this pattern I made the
hat in a solid color it turned out really nice. I made a matching scarf
with a fringe. The pattern was very
simple. Twelve stitches one side knit
all stitches the other side K1; P1.
very simple but effective. If you would like a picture let me know.
