Difficulty level: ** Easy

Free Hat Knitting Pattern

Size: 29" (75 cm) long and  22" (56 cm) around

Materials: Crystal Palace (affiliate link) Mini Mochi fingering weight yarn 195 yds (178 m) / 50 g, color 108 - 3 balls

Needles: 3 (3.25 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 20 sts = 4" (10 cm)

Pattern:

Rib: k 2, p 2.

Directions:

This will be knitted as a tube, and either left as a scarf or later folded into a hat shape.

Cast on 112 sts with provisional cast-on.
Work rib k 2, p 2, join and continue working in rounds.
Work rib for 29" (75 cm). Cut yarn, leaving a 10" (25 cm) tail. Pull through all the sts and secure.
Remove the waste yarn from the cast on sts and place them on a needle. Pull a length of yarn through all the stitches and secure.

Now you have a scarf!

To turn into a hat:

Fold half of the tube inwards.

Now it's a hat! Roll the bottom of the hat twice (or however many times you'd like).

Enjoy!

Like this alot. Short scarf works well for me secured with something priety or tucked in. Appreciate the pattern. Thank you. :)

29" is not really long enough to be a scarf, except maybe on a very young child. It's more like the length of a neckerchief but too bulky for that since it's a tube.
