Free Cowl Knitting Pattern

Materials: Lopi Reynolds 100 % wool bulky weight yarn color 008 pale blue heather 110 yds ( 100 m) / 100 g - 1 skein.

Lopi Reynolds 100 % wool bulky weight yarn color 009 medium blue heather 110 yds (100 m) / 100 g - 1 skein. You'll need 2 skeins of pale and 1 skein of medium blue heather yarn for the hat and the cowl.

Needles: 11 (8.00 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge: 8 st x 12 rows = 4 x 4" (10 x 10 cm)

Pattern:

Fisherman's Rib:
Cast on even amount of stitches
Rows 1: *1 k, 1 p* repeat from * to *
Row 2: 1 k, yo, sl 1 (slip stitch from left to right needle)
Row 3: 1 k on yo and sl 1 from the prev row (knit the stitch that was slipped in the previous row together with its yarn over), yo, sl 1
Row 4: Repeat row 3

Stocking Stitch: 1k, 1p
1 row and all odd rows - knit sts
2 row and all even rows - purl sts

Garter Stitch
all rows - knit sts

Directions:
Cast on 48 sts (including edge stitches) with pale blue heather yarn on needles 11 (8.00 mm).
Knit fisherman's rib pattern for 7 rows.
With medium blue heather knit fisherman's rib pattern for 6 rows.
With pale blue heather knit fisherman's rib pattern for 20 rows.
With medium blue heather knit fisherman's rib pattern for 16 rows.
With pale blue heather knit stocking stitch for 30 rows increasing for 4 sts in each odd row.
With medium blue heather knit stocking stitch for 2 rows increasing for 4 sts in the 1st row.
With medium blue heather knit garter stitch for 4 rows. Cast off.

Finishing:
Join the back seam.
