Needles: 6 (4.0 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
Gauge: 17 st x 24 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm)

Multiple of 6.
Row 1. 1 k, yo, k2togb (knit 2 together through the back), 3 k.
Row 2 and all even rows. all purl
Row 3: yo, k3tog (knit 3 together), yo, 3 k.
Row 5: 1 k, yo, k2togb (knit 2 together through the back), 3 k.
Row 7: 4 k, yo, k2togb.
Row 9: 3 k, yo, k3tog, yo.
Row 11: 4 k, yo, k2togb.
Repeat Rows 1-12.
Lace Edging:
Multiple of 10 + 5.
Row 1. 3 k, yo, *1 k, yo, 3 k, k3tog, 3 k, yo*, repeat from * to *, 1 k, yo, 3 k.
Row 2 and all even rows. all purl
Row 3: Repeat row 1.
Directions:
Cast on 11 sts.
Row 1: edge st, 1 k, yo, 3 k, yo, 1 k, yo, 3 k, yo, 1 k, edge st. Mark 2, 6 and 10 sts - they are the stiches, next to which the increases will be made. The 6th is the central stitch.
Row 2 and all even rows: all purl.

Rows 17 - 57: continue to work Lace Diamonds pattern adding in each row yo after the 2nd st, on both sides of the central st and before the second to last st (total 4 yos). Include added stitches to the new repeats of the Diamond pattern.
Rows 59-72: start knitting Lace edging pattern, also continue to add 4 yos in the same way as in the previous rows. To insure the central angle remains flat don't knit k3tog on both sides of the angle in the rows 59-65, knit 3 k instead.
Cast off.
Finishing:
Block the shawl.
