Free Doll Knitting Pattern

Skills Required/Techniques Used:

-Knit & purl, cast on & bind off

-Decreasing: knit 2 together (k2tog), slip-slip-knit (ssk)

-Basic chrocheting: chain (ch), single crochet stitch (sc), double crochet stitch (dc), slip stitch (sl.st.)

Materials: Bernat Baby Sport yarn. You need about 50 gr

Needles: US#4 (3.5 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Crochet hook: 2.75 mm

Gauge: 20st x 28rows = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm)

Abbreviations:

K – knit

P – purl

St, sts – stitch, stitches

co – cast on

RS – right side

WS – wrong side

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

ch - chain

sl st - slip stitch

Pattern Notes:

Stockinette Stitch
Row 1 (RS and all RS rows): knit
Row 2 (WS and all WS rows): purl

Repeat 2 rows.

The selvedge/edge stitches are worked as follows: knit the first stitch and purl the last one.

Directions:

Back
Cast on 30 sts.

Row 1 (RS): k29, p1.

Row 2 (WS): k1, p29.

Repeat rows 1-2 ten more times, 22 rows in all. Bind off.

Right Front

Cast on 15 sts.

Row 1 (RS): K14, p1. (15 sts)

Row 2 and all WS rows: k1, purl to the end of the row.

Repeat rows 1-2 one more time.

Row 5 (RS): K1, ssk, k11, p1. (14 sts)

Row 7 (RS): K1, ssk, k10, p1. (13 sts)

Row 9 (RS): K1, ssk, k9, p1. (12 sts)

Row 11 (RS): K1, ssk, k8, p1. (11 sts)

Row 13 (RS): K1, ssk, k7, p1. (10 sts)

Row 15 (RS): K1, ssk, k6, p1. (9 sts)

Row 17 (RS): K8, p1.

Row 18 (WS): k1, p8.

Repeat rows 17-18 seven more times. Bind off off after row 32.

Left Front

Row 1 (RS): K14, p1. (15 sts)

Row 2 and all WS rows: k1, purl to the end of the row.

Repeat rows 1-2 one more time.

Row 5 (RS): K12, k2tog, p1. (14 sts)

Row 7 (RS): K11, k2tog, p1. (13 sts)

Row 9 (RS): K10, k2tog, p1. (12 sts)

Row 11)RS): K9, k2tog, p1. (11 sts)

Row 13(RS): K8, k2tog, p1. (10 sts)

Row 15(RS): K7, k2tog, p1. (9 sts)

Row 17(RS): K8, p1.

Row 18 (WS): k1, p8.

Repeat rows 17-18 even more times. Bind off off after row 32.

Assembly:

Sew shoulder seams. Please note that shoulder seams are slanted backwards.

Fold the piece in half and align sides. Sew the sides together from hem up 2".

Crocheted Arm Bands

Tie yarn underarm, start the band here.

Round 1: work sc in each edge st around. Join with sl.st.
Round 2: ch3 (counts as 1 dc and ch 1), *skip 1 sc, 1 dc in the next sc, ch 1 - repeat from * around. Join with sl. st. Tie off.

Crochet Ruffle:
The ruffle around the neckline, front edges and hem is worked in the round. With RS facing, attach thread approximately iin the central stitch on the neckline on the back of the piece.

Round 1: ch2 (counts as 1 sc), work sc in each edge st: along the neckline, down along the left front, work 2sc in the corner for turn, along the bottom, work 2 sc in the corner for turn, up along the right front and again along the neckline till the center of the back, join with sl.st.

Round 2: ch 6 (counts as 1 sc and ch5), skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc, *ch 5, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in the next sc -repeat from * to the end of the round.

Round 3: *ch 5, 1 sc under the ch-5-space , repeat from * to the end of the round.

Round 4: *5 dc in the sc, ch 1, repeat from * to the end of the round. Tie off.

Finishing:

Weave in yarn ends.
