Free Knitting and Crochet Patterns from Elaine Phillips

Small Sideways Shawl with Corkscrew Fringe

Difficulty level: ** Easy

Free Shawl Crochet Pattern

This is a fairly simple pattern. You start from 2 sts and make 1 increase along 1 edge every odd row. At the end of this row you also make a corkscrew fringe. I find that the shawl looks best with a self-striping yarn, which gives it an interesting look. You can use any self-striping yarn. The longer the color changes, the wider the color stripes.

Size: width - 64" (160 cm), depth - 17" (42 cm)

Materials: Worsted weight yarn (100% wool)  262 yards (240 meters) / 100g  - 3 skeins.
Recommended yarn:
Red Heart Super Saver (shop for this yarn here!)
Knit Picks Chroma (shop for this yarn here!)
Noro Kureyon (shop for this yarn here!)
Noro Silk Garden (shop for this yarn here!)
Crystal Palace Mochi Plus (shop for this yarn here!)

Hook: G (4.0 mm)

Gauge for dc 15 st x 8 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm), however the gauge is not important for this project
