Head circumference: 20" (51 cm)
Materials: Noro Kureyon sock yarn 420 m/100g Color S188 - 1 skein (color B).
100 % wool fingering weight black yarn 100g (color A).
Needles: 2 (2.75 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
Gauge for stocking stitch: 23 st x 30 rows = 4" x 4" (10 x 10 cm)
Patterns:
Two-Color Waves Pattern
Multiple of 11
Rows 1 (WS):Color A (black), knit
Rows 2-5: knit (garter stitch).
Rows 6, 8 and 10: Color B (Noro yarn), *k2tog, k2, knit into the front and the back of the next 2 sts, k3, ssk*, repeat from * to *
Rows 7, 9 and 11: purl.
Row 12: Color A (black), repeat row 6.
Repeat rows 1-12.
Two-Sided Stocking Stitch Rib (or double sided stocking stitch):
Cast on even amount of stitches
1 k, slip 1 st knitwise with yarn in front
Turn, repeat the first row knitting slipped stitches and slipping stitches knitted in the previous row.
Stocking stitch:
Row 1. knit
Row 2. purl
Repeat row 1 and 2.
Garter Stitch
all rows - knit sts
Directions
With the black yarn cast on 192 sts (including edge stitches, edge stitches are not part of the pattern).
Knit Two-Sided Stocking Stitch Rib pattern for 14 rows.
Row 15: add evenly 30 stitches.
Rows 16- 81: Two-Color Waves Pattern.
Row 58: to decrease the stitches knit k3 tog instead of k2tog decreasing 22 sts.
Row 70: to decrease the stitches knit k3 tog instead of k2tog decreasing 22 sts.
Rows 82-85: stocking stitch.
Rows 86-91: garter stitch.
Rows 92-97: stocking stitch.
Row 92: decrease for 20 stitches.
Row 96: decrease for 20 stitches.
Rows 98-99: garter stitch.
Cut yarn, leaving a 10" (25 cm) tail. Pull through remaining sts and secure.
Finishing:
Join the back seam.
