Materials:Aunt Lydia (affiliate link)'s 100% Mercerized Cotton Size 3 150yd/138m black - 14 balls.
Aunt Lydia (affiliate link)'s 100% Mercerized Cotton Size 3 150yd/138m red - 1 ball.
Aunt Lydia (affiliate link)'s 100% Mercerized Cotton Size 3 150yd/138m white - 1 ball.
Aunt Lydia (affiliate link)'s 100% Mercerized Cotton Size 3 150yd/138m light brown - 1 ball.
Hook: E (3.5 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Gauge:
20 dc - 4" (10 cm)

Directions:The beginning of the front and of the back are crocheted separately and then finished as one piece.

Front

Crochet chain 63.
Row 1 black:1 dc in the 3rd ch, 59 dc, 8 dc in the last st, turn and continue to crochet on the other side of the chain another 60 dc.
All the increases below are made over the semi-circle part of the front.
To shape a neckline increase for a 1 dc at the beginning and at the end of each row starting from row 5 till row 17.
Row 2 black: 60 dc, increase for 5 dc crocheting 5 times 2 dc in the same loop, 60 dc.
Row 3 black: 60 dc, increase for 10 dc crocheting 10 times 2 dc in the same loop, 60 dc.
Row 4 black: 60 dc, increase for 11 dc crocheting 11 times 2 dc in the same loop, 60 dc.
Row 5 black: 61 dc, no increase just dc over dc of the 4th row, 61 dc.
Row 6 red: 1 dc, 1 dc/rf (around front)
Row 7 black: 1 dc (over dc/rf), 1 dc/rb (around back) over regular dc.
Row 8 black: 64 dc, increase for 18 dc crocheting 18 times 2 dc in the same loop, 64 dc.
Row 9 black: 65 dc, no increase just dc over dc of the 8th row, 65 dc.
Row 10 light brown: 1 dc, 1 dc/rf (around front)
Row 11 black: 1 dc over dc/rf, 1 dc/rb (around back) over regular dc.
Row 12 white: 1 dc, 1 dc/rf (around front)
Row 13 black: 1 dc over dc/rf, 1 dc/rb (around back) over regular dc.
Row 14 black: 70 dc, increase for 26 dc crocheting 26 times 2 dc in the same loop, 70 dc.
Row 15 black: 71 dc, increase for 11 dc crocheting 11 times 2 dc in the same loop, 71 dc.
Row 16 white: 1 dc, 1 dc/rf (around front)

Row 28: dc, no increases
Row 29 red: 1 dc, 1 dc/rf (around front)
Row 30 black: 1 dc over dc/rf, 1 dc/rb (around back) over regular dc.
Row 31 black: 1 dc over dc, 1 dc/rb (around back) over dc/rb.
Row 32 black: 1 sc, skip 1 st, *4 dc in the same st, skip 1 st, 3 sc, skip 1 st*, repeat from * to *. Tie off

Finishing:
Join side seams.
Finish neck by crocheting 1 in (2.5 cm) band with sc (single crochet).

I love this piece, but the pattern is very confusing. I have way more that 60 stitches at row three after the increases...not sure what i am missing.

I should note: Once you have rechaed the end of the row Chain 1 and turn the piece around .[Ch2 for hdc, Ch3 for dc, Ch4 for trc]As always, feel free to email me with any questions!
