Crocheted Mittens


Difficulty level: Intermediate

Free Crochet Pattern

Materials:Blue sport weight wool yarn 100m/50g - 2 balls.
some white and dark blue yarn.
Hook: C (3.0 mm)

Pattern:
Long sc - insert hook 1 row below

Rib: 2 fpdc (front post dc), 2 bpdc (back post dc).

Directions:

Upper Hand
Chain 32, crochet 32 sc on both sides of the chain, on 1 end of the chain crochet 3 sc in the end loop. Now crochet back and forth increasing for 2 stitches in each row at the top of the mitten to make it semi-circular. Change color every 2 rows. In the first row of the new color alternate sc and lsc (long sc). Crochet until the width is 3 1/4" (8 cm).

Lower Hand
Chain 32, crochet 32 sc on both sides of the chain, on 1 end of the chain crochet 3 sc in the end loop. Now crochet back and forth increasing for 2 stitches in each row at the top of the mitten to make it semi-circular. Crochet 3 rows.
In the 4th row start making thumb. 14 sc, chain 26 (2 thumb lengths), continue sc till the end of the row, turn.
5-10 rows. Sc till the chain 26, 26 sc over the chain 26, 14 sc.
11 row. Crochet sc till thumb, then continue over the lower hand part without crochet over the thumb's scs. Crochet until the width is 3 1/4" (8 cm).

Finishing:
Press upper and lower hand parts with steam. Put the parts together aand connect them by sc over the edge of both parts. Mirror the second mitten. Sew the side seams of the thumbs.
Crochet rib for 2" (5 cn).
